Nick Rae
Hello, my name is Nick Rae! I’m a born and raised Truckee local that has a passion for many things. Obviously, photography and videography, but I have a whole lot more. In this about me section, I’m going to tell you my story. I figured if you are interested in hiring me, you should know more about me!
I grew up going through all of the Truckee school system playing lots of sports, but mainly focused on soccer and skiing. I was also involved heavily with the youth groups at Tahoe Forest Church and Sierra Bible Church. Growing up, I would go play soccer every day at the local elementary school. It was my life. I thought that one day I could become a professional soccer player. One day at Hume Lakes Wildwood summer camp, during my Junior year of high school, I was praying about my future. All of the sudden it felt like an answer slapped me in the face, and I broke down. I was no longer going to pursue soccer to play in college, or to have as a career, but I was going to go to a Christian university. Further down the road, when applications were starting to be due, I applied to 3 colleges. Cal Poly SLO, CSU Long Beach, and Point Loma Nazarene University. The only college that accepted me into their school was Point Loma and their acceptance letter’s main theme was “this is where you are called to be”. So, I went to Point Loma from 2019-2020, which everyone knows that this was the year Covid shut everything down. After we got sent home on March 20th (my birthday, worst birthday ever), and finished the online school year. I knew I couldn’t afford to do another year at Point Loma. I’m glad God put me there for a year, it deepend my faith and gave me so many life long friends. When I moved back home I told my friend, Evan, that I probably wasn’t going to go back to Point Loma and he told me about an opportunity of a Leadership training that our church was going to do for people in the ages of 18-25. It would be a year long program and we would get housing. I talked to the head pastor about it and I was sold. The timing of me deciding to not go to Point Loma and the program starting was too perfect. So, that summer during Covid, I was able to move into a house with some of my best friends from high school and do the Tahoe Resident Leadership Program. While everyone was on lockdown, I was able to live with my friends, do manual labor, be in charge of recording the Sunday sermons and editing them, and do our curriculum. So, thankfully, I didn’t have the same lockdown as everyone else at the time. After the program ended, Tahoe Church hired me to still help with lights, camera, and sound on Sundays. I’m very thankful for the church because they gave me an opportunity to help build my portfolio and teach me about many new sides of tech I hadn’t learned before. I still work with them to this day.
Thank you for making it this far! I could go on and on about everything mentioned, but this is enough for you to get a little glimpse of who I am! I hope to work with you in the future!
